Where Is macOS default Desktop Background Folder Located

Want to use additional pictures other than macOS default wallpaper and want to place your custom wallpaper image on macOS default Desktop Background folder.

And you don’t know where the heck is macOS desktop wallpaper location exactly is?

The location is in Library > Desktop Pictures folder.

To access macOS Desktop Pictures folder, simply In macOS Finder sidebar go to Devices > Your’s ‘Mac’ > System disk > Library > Desktop Pictures.

Place custom wallpaper image on Desktop Pictures folder as many as you like. You’ll be asked for a password to authenticate.

Once you are done placing your custom wallpaper there. Right-click anywhere in your Desktop and select for Change Desktop Background.

It will open Desktop & Screen Saver settings on macOS System Preferences. And you now should see your custom wallpaper that you added earlier is there in Apple > Desktop Pictures.

Click on your custom Wallpaper Image that you prefer to change your desktop background.

Check for ✅Change Picture: ‘Every …’ If you want to change your macOS desktop background change in every few seconds, minute or hour. See screenshot below.
