Looking for a recommendation on choosing the battery-powered guitar amp for bedroom practice?
There are so many contents out there for recommendations about the mini guitar amp for bedroom practice. To many that make me confused, because all of them are good by the way.
This is my final decision about picking one of the battery-powered guitar amps that sound big for its size. And enough just to practice in the bedroom or just noodling around in the living room. And of course to carry it on travel because of the portable size that fits on a backpack and only needs six AA battery to rock on with it.
Mini guitar amp with a massive high gain tone
So … yesterday I just got my packet delivered. A Blackstar Fly 3 mini guitar amplifier.
My first impression was, okay this is enough just for practice and noodle around without so much care about the tone and the sound that I can get from this mini battery-powered amp.
Yeah of course just like all of you guys, I’ve been browsing around Youtube for a sound test. But in real experience, I have a skeptical thought at first, that it will be just another mini amp that sounds like a mini amp.
But I really surprised by the performance of this mini amp (Blackstar Fly 3). With that budget, the amp sounds really good and “massive.” Especially in the distortion channel, you can really get the real high gain sound out of this mini Amp. Even if you play outdoor it sounds pretty good and can be loud too.
And with the built-in “digital” tape delay effect on it, Blackstar Fly can really satisfy you when you playing solo. It just sounds legit …
Yeah, the amp also has an ISF (EQ) for you to switch between the British sound or American sound. Or in my opinion is more like dark to bright, aggressive to woody tone EQ feature. I don’t know, but what I know it sounds great.
Most budget friendly compared to similar product
What I mean with similar here is in the range of mini battery-powered guitar amplifier. Of course, the different product has its own characteristic of tone and some has more feature.
By the way, at the first, my ego wants to buy Boss Katana Mini because it has more features and has more big speaker sizes. But after I try it my self, I can confirm that Blackstar Fly 3 has a great tone as good as Boss Katana mini.
Of course, as I said before it has a different characteristic. But in terms of getting a big sound from a mini battery-powered practice amp for guitar, I think both are equal. And I do not regret buying it, I really satisfied with the product. What’s great about both amp is they are analog (not digital) guitar amp.
Another mini battery powered guitar amp in my whist list is Roland Micro Cube and VOX Mini3 G2. But yeah I choose the most budget-friendly one, the Blackstar Fly 3. The guitar amp only costs around $53.93 on Amazon.
So, guys, I don’t want sounds fishy, but for real if you want a high gain sound from a mini guitar amp with a nasty tone that not too expensive I think the Blackstar Fly 3 is the good choice to invest your gear budget on it. The mini amp really can chug and “singing.”
Note
By the way, I still working on a track that I want to record using Blackstar Fly mini guitar amp. Not promise guys, but when it done I will put the demo here and update the post. Anyway, you can found me on Soundcloud or on my Youtube channel that I usually upload my demo or cover a song.
I hope this post can help you decide what’s practice amp that’s right for you. For me, Blackstar Fly 3 is more than enough to rock n roll with, in the bedroom practice sessions. Thanks for reading 🙂
