How to Enable Ethernet in Hackintosh

Ethernet hackintosh

You must be landing here because of your Ethernet port doesn’t work. Don’t worry, here’s how to enable Ethernet in Hackintosh. I use AppleRTL8169Ethernet. for my Vanilla hackintosh. This also should works in most onboard Ethernet brand out there. You can download the Ethernet that I use later. Because first, you need to mount the Clover EFI partition.

Mounting EFI Partition

The easiest way to mount EFI partition is by using Clover Configurator App. You can download here:

Download

Install Clover Configurator App by drag it to Application Folder. Open the app and at it will ask you to mount the EFI partition click  ‘Mount EFI partition.’

Next at the TOOLS page, again click on Mount EFI partition button in the right bottom. You’ll be asked for the password. Enter your admin password to mount EFI Partition.

After Clover Configurator app ‘mount’ the EFI, you’ll see the ‘Open partition’ button. Click to open the EFI partition.

Then, inside the EFI Partition go to EFI > EFI > CLOVER > 10.12 folder if your macOS version is Sierra. 10.13 for High Sierra and so on.

Next, you need to download the Ethernet to put on here.

Download Ethernet kext

Here you can download the Ethernet that I use which are AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext. This should work on the machine.

Download

To make it works, close Clover Configurator app and any other running apps. And restart your computer.

Ethernet port now should work

After restarting your Hackintosh your Ethernet kext now should works. Go to Preferences > Network there you should see the Ethernet port in your system Network.

So plug the Ethernet cable to your Hackintosh and in the Network settings, it should turn to green. And open your browser to test it out by browsing the web. If still doesnt work using another Ethernet and use the same method to install it on EFI partition.

Note

It should works if you follow my vanilla method on how to install Hackintosh. Or any other vanilla Hackintosh method. Ok, that’s it! Hope this short post is useful. And Happy ackintoshing 🙂
