Get The Most of GPU From VGA Port [Hackintosh]

Connect your display trough VGA port on GPU but what you got is only native display in your Hackintosh e.g 1024 x 768.

Here’s how to get more display option in your ackintosh if you are still using VGA port, or because your graphics cards don’t have HDMI port.

If you are following my tutorials before, or follow any Hackintosh installation using the vanilla method. You don’t need additional and no need technical stuff to get full function of your Graphics card display option.

Get The Full Display Option by Replace VGA cable with the high quality one

Recently I buy a new high-quality VGA cable. I also replace my ackintosh PSU unit with the new one, ‘the better one.’

And it’s surprisingly changing the entire GPU function on my hack. Which is before I replace the VGA cable and Power Supply Unit. I only got the native display resolution that I’ve mention above. And when I look into Scaled option for Display in macOS System Preferences I got nothing but 1024 x 768.

Now After I replace the VGA Cable and The PSU. I got the 1600 x 1200 for scaled display option and it works just great on my Graphics card which is nVidia geForce 8500 GT 512 MB.

But for matching with the monitor width that I use. I have to choose 1400 x 1050 for the display option.

The solution is clear. If you have the same Graphics card like mine. That has no HDMI port, and you want to get full graphics card display functionality in macOS scaled display option

Then consider replacing your VGA Cable with the high-quality ones. That having a better signal and stuff.

Option two – replace the PSU with the better one (Optional)

If after change the VGA cable there is no change in macOS Scaled display option. Then replace your Power Supply Unit With the better ones. Is not must to be the expensive one but the better one that you can afford.

When you are using a ‘bad’ Power Supply. It will make some hardware like GPU doesn’t work as it should be. And of the lack of power supply. So this is one of the reasons why your GPU does not work as it should.

That’s how I get the full function of my Graphics card for my low budget project.

Hope this info is useful for you guys who have the same GPU, like mine. Or, have a better one but the Graphics card no HDMI port.

I also have trid using DVI port before and I got the same display option.

So, replacing the VGA Cable with the high-quality ones is how to get the most of your GPU Function. And ya replacing the PSU with the better and stable ones is a must if you to get the most of you Graphics card functionality.
