Android File Transfer to Mac and PC Using Free Software

Okay, this time Digimanx wants to share with you a trick about Android file transfer to Mac and PC using free software called HandShaker, through USB, or wirelessly.

As you know in order to send data from Android to Mac or PC through Wifi or USB you will need an App.

Unfortunately, most of these app/software is paid software. Which mean you need to buy the license to use them. The good news, there is free software that can help you to transfer data from Android to Mac/PC wirelessly or through USB made easy, and most importantly is free!

Even free software is good enough to connect Android to Mac or PC so you can transfer your data. Of course, paid app/software have “plus” feature and have more good looking UI (User Interface)

But here we gonna find the function first, right? So! let’s find out!

How to Android file transfer to Mac and PC using free software

First, you need to download the App called HandShaker. Make sure you choose the version for Mac or for Windows PC. You can download the app here https://www.smartisan.com/apps/#/handshaker

If you are Mac user, you can download the HandShaker app directly from the Apple App Store.

Use HandShaker to transfer data from Android to computers

How to use HandShaker to transfer data from Android to computers or the opposite transfer from computers to Android device.

But, before you can transfer data from Android to Mac and Windows, you need to set your Android phone to enable transfer files via USB (PTP).

The first thing you need to do is to enable developer mode on your phone. To do that, go to Settings > About device > Build number. Then tap the Build number seven times.

Once you’ve done, when you go back to the Settings page you’ll see the Developer Option there. Now we ready to go to the next step.

To set your Android device,  In Settings page go to General > Developer Option. It depends on the Android version that you use, but you should see the developer option after you activate it.

Next, Turn On the Developer Option. Then, also Turn on the Debugging Option. And checkmark the USB debugging (Debug mode when USB is connected) see the screenshot below.

How to transfer file from Android to Mac/PC Using HandShaker

Next step! download the Handshaker App and install it on your computer. Before you open the App make sure you connect your Android phone via USB to the computer.

If you want to connect through wifi make sure both devices connected on the same network. But it’s not recommended, it is a very slow process. The fastest way is to transfer files via USB.

Okay! when the HandShaker app opened, it will scan the connected device via  USB. You’ll see your Android phone in the HandShaker app interface. Click, Connect!

Now, when your Android device is connected. Tap to choose “Send images via (PTP) / Send images from the phone when MPT unavailable“.

After it’s connected you will get a pop-up message asking you to allow/trust your computer to connect to your Android device. Just click “Always” so you will not see this message again in the future.

Once again you’ll get the pop–up message asking you to install HandShaker app on your Android device. Tap “View” to download the apk file, and select to download it from your favorite browser.

After download finish install the app on your smartphone.

[Note!] you may get a warning that the apps could harm your phone, etc, etc. Don’t worry, it save! it’s because the app wasn’t launched officially on the Google Play Store.

When Install the app finish, open it. And tap the “Connect” button. Now, take look at HandShaker Interface at your computer, you will see all your files from your Android phone.

To Transfer file from Android to Mac or PC, simply click on the file you want to transfer and on HandShaker Menu. Click on File > Export.

And to Import file from computer click on Menu > File > Import see screenshot below.
