When talking about software for Image manipulation, photo editing, graphical design, digital art and other creative works, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop both must be your first thought.
Yeah! Photoshop and AI is the great and most popular software you can get out there.
The problem is, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is not a free softwares. You only have 30 days trial for free but after that you have to buy the software license in order to use it for longer time.
You won’t use cracked Photoshop app for your ‘professional’ work right?! that definitely isn’t good for your … health.
Anyway! back to the topic. The single app price for monthly submission for individual use the price is US$19,99 for annual plan paid montly.
It’s okay if your main job is using photoshop for all your work e.g photographer, graphic design etc.
But if you are using Photoshop only when you just need it or just for side hobbies. You maybe think that why you should pay for $19 a month only for using it once to make an acne in your nose disappear from your photo. Oh no! you won’t pay $19 just to show off on Instagram right? … or maybe you did?
That’s way in this post I want to make list of free software for Photoshop alternative. Free mean free! because it’s GNU / GPL license (General Public License) softwares.
And here they are;
1. GIMP
This is my favorite one and use this app to create header logo, icon, illustration etc for this blog.
I know, I know .. I am not that good. But the point is whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator or digital artist this software will help you to get your job done.
Gimp have a very basic tool but essential and you’ll have unlimited layers for your creative works.
This software available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Please visit GIMP official website for more info and to download the application.
2. Krita
Krtita is perfect if you are digital artist or in the learning phase of it. This app is definitely awesome for creating digital painting, animation, doodle, comic strip and all kind of art work.
Support unlimited layers and masks, lot of built in brushes that you can use and have most of essential tools for digital art. This app is great and what you need for Adobe Illustrator alternative for sure.
Krita have three version available:
Krita Desktop (for PC / Mac)
Krita Gemini (both for traditional desktop computers and tablet and touch)
Krita Studio (desktop version with paid support, and full commercial support)
Just like Gimp this software is available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Please go to Krita official website for more info and to download the software.
3. Inkscape
Inkscape is an open-source vector graphics editor similar to Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Freehand, or Xara X. What sets Inkscape apart is its use of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), an open XML-based W3C standard, as the native format (Source: inkscape.org/en/about/overview/)
This software is ultimately free and available for Mac OS, Windows Linux and Source (The raw code to compile). For Mac user you will need Xcode in order to use this program.
Please visit the Inkscape official website to download and to find more info of the program.
4. Paint 3D
For Windows 10 user Pain 3D was a built in app and ultimately free software. With this app you can do almost any simple design or editing images or photo.
What I like about this software (beside is free of course) is pretty simple app and easy to use for ‘basic image editing’ make a simple sketch or free drawing.
Of course Paint 3D only available for Windows only. But for a simple everyday task this app is on my list.
Just closing words
The lists above is for software that I personally use my self and I really recommended if you’re looking for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop alternative softwares. They works best for ‘a free software’ for sure.
But there is many others similar apps that you can always search on Google.
Anyway hope this info useful for you. And if you are serious in Digital art, Photography, Vector design and other visual artworks career, Adobe Illustrator and photoshop definitely the best tools you can have.
